Privacy policy

In short

SnackCheck shows no ads, never sells your data and does not share it with third parties. You can use it without an account; your lists and health profile then stay on this device only.

What we keep

If you create an account: your name, email address and a one-way hash of your password. As you use the app: your favourites, basket, scan history (up to 365 days) and, if you enable notifications, your device's notification token. How you use the app (screens opened, scans, favourite and basket actions, news taps) is processed only as aggregate statistics: your account is represented by a random pseudonym, nobody can see it per person, and raw records are deleted after 180 days.

Health profile

Your allergens, diet preferences and health conditions are used only to evaluate products for you. This is special-category personal data: it is stored on your account so that only you can access it — nobody else, administrators included, can see it. When a product is evaluated the profile is attached to the request; it is stripped from server logs and stored nowhere outside your account.

Where it is stored

Data is kept on our own server in a data centre inside the European Union (Finland). All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).

Your rights

Under data protection law you may access, correct and ask for the deletion of your data. You can change or clear your health profile at any time from the profile screen, and "Delete my account" permanently removes your account and all data linked to it.

Reviews and posts

Next to published reviews, recipes and tips only your first name and the initial of your last name appear (expert notes show the expert's name and title); your e-mail is never shown. Who reported something and whom you blocked are never shown to others. Your body measurements and diary stay in your account only. Deleting your account deletes all of them.
